TOURNAMENT RESULTS FOR
BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU
OCTOBER 15TH 2005

October 15th was a busy day for Steel City Martial Arts and for jiu-jitsu in general. The Gracie Nationals were held in Columbus Ohio and a tournament was held in Uniontown PA sponsored by Mark Shraeders Martial Arts Academy. We had BJJ students participate in both events. At the Gracie Nationals in OH we had an impressive display of skills. Once again Steel City Martial Arts proved to be the little school that could. We had nine students participate and they all did a fantastic job!

Bill Krall - Gold Dwarka Van Pelt - Silver
Mike Barbano - Silver Matt Murray - Bronze
Craig Palombine - Silver Chris Piper
Jim Kapinski - Silver Sean Delassandro
Matt Mcgrail - Silver

At Mark Shraeders Martial Arts we had Brian Krasneski participate in a no gi competition. This was Brian's first experience in a no gi event. He earned a bronze medal, very impressive.

We also want to thank Santino for traveling to Columbus to coach the team.

I am proud of all of you who participated in the competitions. It takes courage and character to put yourself on the mat

Pittsburgh sports and fitness festival which is the largest international Brazilian Jiu-jitsu meet in Pennsylvania.

We had 10 students participate in the Gracie jiu-jitsu United States nationals this weekend. They all trained really hard for several months to prepare for the event. Once again we proved steel city to be the little school that could. It was an exciting day for the students that participated, the coaches and those who came as spectators. This event featured fighters from many parts of the world so the competition was nothing less than fierce. Our team consisted of santino Achille, brad mihalyi, Willie laney, Leah Kurtz, Matt Murray, Jim kapinski, Laura freedman, Julian freedman, Michael barbano, and Craig Palombine. They collectively took home 4 gold and 3 silver medals! Also we want to send out a special thanks to Jon pfirdehirt for coaching. They all represented steel city with pride and were a shining example of what a martial artist should be!

GOLD WENT TO: SANTINO ,LEAH, JIM AND CRAIG
