  • SCMA is truly a great martial arts academy. Sensei Achille is an excellent instructor and a wonderful person. His entire team of instructors also do an amazing job. The higher ranked students are very helpful and all of the students are friendly and a lot fun to train with. The facilities are clean and maintained very well. I've been training in the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu program for about a month and would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn self defense or looking for a great workout. I've already shed some pounds. They're an affiliate of Master Pedro Sauer who is a legend in the Jiu-jitsu world. The students that compete in tournaments do very well which says a lot about the quality of a school. If you're interested in learning martial arts in the Pittsburgh area this is the place you want to train at.

  • Great place to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and karate. Sensei Achille and his instructors are first class and provide a clean, safe and fun environment in which to train.

  • Very clean and professional but most importantly the instructors are the BEST! I am amazed at what the last few years have done for my son!

  • I recently trained at SCMA while in town on business. I have nothing but great things to say about my time there. The instruction is top notch. The students are talented, technical and very friendly. I enjoyed the time I spent there. If you're in the area and looking to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I strongly suggest you try out Steel City Martial Arts.

  • Dropped in today on Marshall's no-gi class...great stuff. Thanks again to Sensei and Mrs. Achille for the business advice. You guys are the best.

  • Steel City Martial Arts has been nothing but a positive experience for my 5yr old son. The instructors are very good at what they do and are very hands on. If you are looking for a karate school that just advances you threw the ranks because you pay every month this is not the school for you. You have to earn your belt at Steel City. My son has been taking karate since he was three years old, but has learned so much more since he switched karate schools 6 months ago. If you want top-notch instruction then go to Steel City and learn from the best.

  • Steel City offers everything! Great classes, great people, phenomenon instructors who treat you with respect starting on day one!

Proud to be apart of such a great program!

  • If you're considering training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, this place should be the only one on your list. Sensei Achille's lineage is one of the best in the world--Black Belt, with first stripe, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (awarded by Pedro Sauer, a senior student of Helio and Rickson Gracie)-- and learning from someone so closely related to the roots of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is such a beautiful experience. A close second in the SCMA experience is the facility. It is kept very clean and maintained throughout the year, so no need to worry about a snow-packed parking lot in the Pittsburgh winters. The mats are firm and the locker rooms are very nice. The family atmosphere there & the students combine for a very friendly place and is as comforting as a a school should be, because SCMA truly embodies what an ideal school should be.

  • A great group of people. All you have to do is show up - become part of the family. Listen, Look, and Learn by experience.

  • My daughter attended another Martial Arts school for over 3 years and although she did not have a bad experience SSMA has been a far more superior experience. Her confidence has soared and she really loves to come to class. It's exciting and different every time. The instructors provide so much encouragement and positive reinforcement I would highly recommend it!

  • A great and caring a professional school which teaches life lessons and martial arts simultaneously.  As a beginner bjj student, starting at 46 years old, Sonny and the other instructors embraced me and my strengths and weaknesses, contouring a solid, technical, and challenging lesson plan.  I have had great triumphs in life and on the mat with the great school and instruction at SCMA.

  • Addictive, challenging and inspiring! Atmosphere, students, instructors -- all top notch.

  • I travel extensively with my work. I have trained all over the United States. Steel City Martial Arts is without a doubt one of the best martial arts schools that I have visited. It is well run and clean. The instructors are quite thorough. The other students are polite and helpful. I can't say enough about Sensei, the students, and the staff at Steel City. If you are looking for a place to train or are just interested in karate or jiu-jitsu you can't beat them.

  • I was honored to train at Steel City Martial Arts this past year. I have been to a lot of martial arts schools in the past and Steel City was by far one of the best. All the instructors are very professional, down to earth, and friendly. They offer a big variety of classes and have some of the top Jui-Jitsu in all of Pennsylvania. You really feel like you are part of a family there. If you are in the Pittsburgh area, do your self a favor and stop by Steel City and check it out. Sensei Achille is the best around.
